Karin studied photography throughout high school and college and went on to graduate from Columbia College Chicago with her BFA in Graphic Design in 2011. In addition to working as a Graphic Designer and eventually a Communications Director she started her own photography brand in 2015. In 2016, using her skills in photography, graphic design, marketing, and art direction, she became a full-time entrepreneur  and photographer. Shortly after starting her business, Karin creatively partnered with Jeff, a childhood friend, and together they built their brand and perfected their client experience into what it is today. Jake and Paul have been long time trusted associates (and friends) of Karin and Jeff throughout the growth of their company and are crucial to the creativity of this team.

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial heart. Long before I ever called myself a business owner. I was building things, creating space, and bringing vision to life. Photography started out as a side gig. It was something creative I did while navigating life and motherhood.

But then in 2016. everything changed.

Becoming a single mom wasn’t part of the plan. Overnight, life shifted. I was raising babies on my own, carrying a weight I never saw coming, and doing everything I could to hold it all together. That side gig... it became my lifeline. I built a wedding photography business that provided for my kids, gave me purpose, and kept us going when survival felt like the only option. In that season of grit and grace,
I refused to be defined by what had happened to me. But I also couldn’t ignore how deeply it shaped me. I was doing hard things,  but I was never doing them alone...

Meet Karin Miller

Even when I felt unseen, God reminded me I was known. Even when I felt like I was barely holding on, He was holding me. In 2019 I remarried an amazing man. A man who didn't see me as a victim of my circumstances. He loved me for the strength I found, he supported the dreams I had and what I was building. He loved my children as his own and I couldn't imagine doing life without him. As I healed and grew stronger in my identity in Christ, something in me shifted. My “why” changed. No longer was I just fighting to survive, I began walking with other women. Women who were also rebuilding, rediscovering, and reclaiming their identity. I started offering more than images. I was offering encouragement, truth, and presence...

Isaiah 43:1 became my anchor:

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine." Even when I felt unseen, God reminded me I was known. Even when I felt like I was barely holding on, He was holding me.

Meet Karin Miller

Isaiah 43:18–19 says:
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” That’s exactly what God has done in me. He made a way where there was no way. He turned survival into purpose.

Identify is for the woman who is still in the thick of it. For the one who’s tired of performing, tired of pretending, and ready to be reminded of who she really is, not in the world’s eyes, but in God’s. It’s for the woman ready to see herself again, clearly, honestly, and through the lens of truth.

This time, my “why” isn’t survival. It’s freedom. It’s purpose. It’s faith.
It’s you. You’re not behind. You’re not forgotten. And your story still matters.

That’s where Identify Photography was born.
It’s not just my next chapter, it’s the fulfillment of a promise.

Identify Photography is dedicated to the woman who is still in the thick of it. It's for the one who’s tired of performing, tired of pretending, and ready to be reminded of who she really is, not in the world’s eyes, but in God’s. Let's tell it - together

That’s where Identify Photography was born. It’s not just my next chapter. It’s the fulfillment of a promise.

Meet Karin Miller

My story.

more than just a logo.

The Identify brand was built from pieces of Karin’s own story. For as long as she can remember, she’s had to say, “I’m Karin with an i.” That little “i” became her marker of identity, something small but powerful that set her apart from a sea of sameness. The same is true for Identify Photography: it’s about finding and showcasing what makes each business unique, so they stand out in their own marketplace. The logo itself carries deeper meaning too. The design inside the “d” is inspired by the ichthus, a symbol of Karin’s Christian faith, and a reminder that none of her journey would have been possible without Christ at the center. Even the colors tell a story, deep blue ties back to EV Photography Chicago, her very first business and the beginning of her survival story. While light blue, her longtime favorite color, symbolizes a fresh chapter, one where her own identity and story take center stage. More than a logo, Identify is a declaration that your brand, just like Karin’s, has a story worth telling, one that deserves to be seen, known, and remembered. Which brings us to their brands tag line:

Be seen. be true. be unforgettable.

Why identify feels different:

Every part of the process from our first call to your final gallery  is thoughtfully planned, customized, and completely taken care of. It’s the kind of concierge-style experience that lets you relax and feel confident knowing every detail is handled.

Before we ever shoot, we take time to really get to know who you are and what your brand is all about so your photos actually mean something, not just look nice.

By the time shoot day comes, we’ve already built a connection so it doesn’t feel awkward or stiff. It’s relaxed, it’s real, and we actually have fun doing it.

We make it fun.

It's white-glove from start to finish.

We start with you.
